Purpose:

To analyze the chain of events leading to an act of violence.

Method:

A comparison is made between theories underlying accidents and violence.

Result:

Regarding accidents, a distinction is made between the events leading up to the accident, the accident itself and the consequences of the accident, which may be an injury but may also be something else. Regarding violence, a distinction can also be made between the pre-event i.e., conflict and aggression, the act of violence and the physical or psychological injuries resulting from the act of violence. With this chain of event as a starting point, the cause of events within each of the three phases can be analyzed. What elements constitute the pre-events phase, the act of violence and the post-violence phase.

Conclusion:

Violence is a concept whose content should be more developed.
