Self-concept is defined as an individuals perception of himself and is used interchangeably with self-esteem, self-acceptance and a lot of other constructs,

Relating to different psychological theories most theorists agree that self-esteem is a learned phenomenon and it is closely related to social support. Lots of studies also show that self-esteem and social support are associated with better health and health habits, and avoiding of fatal risks. In order to get a measurement instrument of self-esteem we have critically reviewed and pilot tested a new questionnaire based on Shavelson's theoretical models to be used in future studies.
