Abstract

Introduction
At the Paediatric Department at the Universidad de Cantabria (Spain) we have detect new pathologies in adolescents and children that few years ago were present only in adults. These pathologies are related with non-educated alimentary habits. By this reason the ENS and the autonomic authorities of Cantabria has decided to design one project that include research and formation simultaneously.

Objectives
Contribute to the reduction of pathologies in children and adolescents originated by the inadequate alimentary habits¸- Increase the relationships between health professionals and teachers.

Methods
We have develop three steps: 1) Pre-inquiry: two questionnaires directed to target population (adolescents 14-19 years old) were used to estimate their alimentary habits (specially frequency and preferences) 2) Teaching formation: During one course of 50 hours teachers of inquired student were formed in practical activities relating school, family and community. 3) Practices: During one year the projects designed in the previous step were developed at schools. 4) Inquiry after practices: Two years later starting the project (that begins in 1996) the habits of adolescents were analysed again.

Results

- All the teachers that have started the initial formation phase finish it.

- 93% of teachers finish practices with their students.

- 86% of projects was done with participation of the family of students.

- 42% of the developed protects has influence in offer of products at the bar of the school.

- Considering that the project has been developed in two regions (Cantabria and Leon) and the results were equivalents in the two regions we could suppose that the influence of the group in higher than the cultural influences, traditions, family and geographical factors.
