Louise Signal is an Executive Director of the Health Promotion and Policy Research Unit in the Department of Public Health at the University of Otago in Wellington, New Zealand. Louise is a social scientist with a PhD in Community Health from the University of Toronto. She has been involved in health promotion for over 20 years in a range of roles, including Senior Advisor (Health Promotion) for the New Zealand Ministry of Health. Her research interests include tackling inequalities in health, health impact assessment, tobacco control, and healthy eating and healthy action. Currently, Louise leads a project for the New Zealand Ministry of Health to assist in reducing inequalities in health. Louise has a number of community service roles including being a member of the Health Promotion Committee of the New Zealand Cancer Society. She is also a member of the editorial advisory committee for the Australian Journal of Health Promotion. She teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in health promotion.
