How to react to the papers published in the series reserved to the RHP&EO contributors (closed series)

Why react?

The original mission of RHP&EO is to provide to people from all over the world a critical analysis of resources in health promotion and health education that can be useful to their work (program management, teaching, program delivery, studies, consultation, policy making, clinical intervention, etc.) whatever the level of this work (local, regional, provincial, national, international). Recently, another role for RHP&EO has been put forward which is to hold occasional exchanges between IUHPE’s members on important topics and issues in the field. This will be done through two different mechanisms. First, a team of about 30 contributors nominated for a three years period by the Editorial Board of RHP&EO submit reviews in series reserved to them, named “closed series”; members of the Editorial Board can also submit reviews in these closed series. On the other hand, members of IUHPE can participate in RHP&EO by writing a paper in the open series (click here to see the instructions for these series) or by submitting their reactions to the contributions in the closed series. The following instructions concern the IUHPE members who wish to react to texts of the contributors in the closed series.

Who can react?

If you want to react, you must be a member in good standing of IUHPE, as RHP&EO is a contribution of the IUHPE to knowledge development and dissemination in the world. If you are not a member and wish to contribute, please join by clicking here.

How to react?

As a member of IUHPE, you can send your reaction by e-mail to the editor of the series in which you want to react. Currently, there are two series reserved to the contributors to which you can react to:

  • The five favorites ressources that influenced me the most in my carreer
  • Current ressources we would like you to consult

For these two first series, the editor is Sophie Dupéré

You can also react to the papers included in the “Notes from the Editorial Team” series (in that case, the editor is Michel O’Neill) or to papers submitted by other IUHPE members in the open series.

Your reaction should not exceed 500 words, have a title and give your opinion on one or several of the reviews already posted in a particular series. If you wish you can also react to the series in general (see as an example:Sharrock, Peta and Idema, Rick, Ideology, Philosophy, Modernity and Health Promotion: Discourse analysis of eight reviews from the Reviews of Health Promotion and Education Online, Reviews of Health Promotion and Education Online, 2004. URL:reviews/2004/13/index.htm).

In the case of reacting to a whole series rather than just one paper, please contact Michel O’Neill to discuss the details of submission.

If you refer to resources, please provide the detailed reference, using the American Psychological Association format.

How will your reaction be processed?

The series editor will acknowledge reception of your text, verify with IUHPE headquarters if your membership is in good standing, send your reaction to two members of RHPE&O Editorial Board for analysis and interact with you if need be. After reception of the Board members comments, the series editor will interact with you, request changes or corrections if need be and send your reaction to RHP&EO for posting on the website once the changes have been made. This process should be completed in a matter of weeks, if not days.

We are looking forward to your reactions with great interest and do not hesitate to contact us if you have any question about this process!
