How to react to the reviews published in RHP&EO

Why react ?

The purpose of RHP&EO is to provide people interested in health promotion and health education all over the world with a critical analysis of resources of different kind that can be useful to their work, whatever that work might be (program management, teaching, program delivery, undergraduate or graduate studies, consultation, policy making, clinical intervention etc.), and whatever the level of this work (local, regional, provincial, national, international). This will be done mainly in two ways: a team of about 30 reviewers, nominated for a three years period by the Editorial Board of RHP&EO, will submit reviews in a set of series; members of the Editorial Board of RHPEO can also submit reviews if they choose to do so. Secondly, members of the IUHPE who are interested can become discussants and submit their reactions to the reviews, in order to create debates, provide second opinions on resources, etc.

Who can react ?

If you want to react, you must be a member in good standing of IUHPE, as RHP&EO is a contribution of the IUHPE to knowledge development and dissemination in the world. If you are not a member and wish to contribute, please join by clicking here.

How to react ?

Once you are a member of IUHPE, you can then send your reaction by e-mail to the editor of the series in which you want to react. Currently, there are five series to which you can react to:

  • Notes from the editor in chief
  • My five favorite resources in Health promotion and health education
  • The best resource found in 2003
  • Ottawa 1986-Vancouver 2007: should the Ottawa charter be revisited ?
  • Renewal of the leadership in Health Promotion

For the two first series, the editor is Michel O'Neill. For the third, the fourth and the fifth, the editor is Sophie Dupéré.

Your reaction should not exceed 500 words, have a title and give your opinion on one or several of the reviews already posted, on the series in general, or offer your contribution to the series. If you refer to resources, please provide the detailed reference, using the American Psychological Association format.

How will your reaction be processed ?

The series editor will acknowledge reception, verify with IUHPE headquarters if your membership is in good standing, send your reaction to two members of RHPE&O Editorial Board for analysis and interact with you if need be. After reception of the Board members comments, the series editor will interact with you, request changes or corrections if need be and send your reaction to RHP&EO for posting on the website once the changes have been made. This process should be completed in a matter of weeks, if not days.

We are looking forward to your reactions with great interest and do not hesitate to contact me if you have any question about this process !
